In the 1960’s, ten good friends from the “The Region” built a hunting & conservation lodge in the steep remote hills of southern Indiana.

Skilled union craftsman from the building & construction trades, and veterans of WWII and the Korean conflict, these blue-collar men worked hard and they played hard. With nicknames like Pug, Big Butch and Dutch, they were beer drinkers and hell raisers and each and every one was a true “Man’s-Man.” They used their skills as carpenters, plumbers, electricians, heavy machinery operators and bricklayers combined with their passion as outdoorsmen to build a remotely located lodge over the course of just one summer, all on thier weekends off. Needless to say, feeding all these mens-men over the years has always been a top priority and the coveted chili recipe, which has been refined over decades, is much sought after.

One of the camp cooks, notorious for his giant stature and a quick fuse, was tired of people asking for the recipe and then listening to complaints later because novice cooks couldn’t match the flavor. “Those damn cooking- impared fools don’t know where to buy freshly ground spices let alone know how to cook!” Cooking from scratch and by taste he found it easier to just create a spice-mix and simply share it with anyone who asked. Hence Man’s Man Chili™ Gourmet Chili Spice Mix was born!

Today, the Lodge still exists and so does the famous chili recipe which is secretly guarded. Decades in the making, our gourmet spice mix combined with the sweetness of freshly cooked vegetables creates the unique and sought after flavor of Man’s Man Chili™.
